The Midlands Institute of Transport, based at the
University of Wolverhampton is faced with the challenging task of developing
devices and frameworks for today's and tomorrows Intelligent Transport Systems
(ITS). With members coming from a wide range of backgrounds and fields provides
a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Such fields include Electro-Mechanical,
Electronics, Communications, Computer Engineering and Management.
The purpose of MIT is to provide focus for excellence in all matters related to
the sound management and development of transport system and technology in both
practical and academic terms, and to provide direct access to technological and
management developments for automotive industry, transport operators,
government, manufacturers and their workforce, and to establish "best practice"
as an industry norm. MIT is a distributed research, training, product
development and technology transfer organisation that promotes
cross-disciplinary research and training.
Particular areas of research focus include Intelligent Speed Adaptation
Systems, Collision Avoidance Systems, Global positioning Systems, Fleet
Management Systems, Information Flow Modelling, Intelligence Message
Prioritisation and other aspects of Vehicular Messaging Architecture, Supply
Chain Management, Freight and Public Transport Systems.
